hockeygameWow, its been a while since I've put a new article on the page.  Now that summer is over I have fewer excuses to not be updating da page here eh?

A couple of weeks ago we went to a Badger game at the Kohl Center to watch the Huskies take on the Badgers.  Unfortunately for us the Badgers dominated the game in every way possible.  Other than that the game was great.  Everyone had a great time except for Nakita's issues with very loud horns during every score for the home team.  In this case the score was 0-6.  I guess she'll never forget the sound of the enemy :)

Kayaking in WA

Kayaking the spit Kayaking in Washington is a different experience from midwest or even Great Lakes kayaking.  For starters, the water is warmer! There also tides, not something you find in Wisconsin!  The animals are also different - from seals to huge crabs - the wildlife can be an interesting experience.

Pictured here are a couple of seals...a male is seen nearest.  Mountains can be seen on both sides of the Straights of Juan De Fuca.  The mountains in this picture are the Olympics with the North Cascades behind us on the other side of the Straight.  Click the photo for to go to the album and see more pictures of this trip!

Seattle Vacation

Marymere Falls The 10 day vacation is over - and now it's back to the grind doing things like updating the photo album and website :)

Our trip started in downtown Seattle where we stayed for 3 days to explore Pike's Market, The Space Needle (and The Mono-Rail), Seattle Aquarium, as well as the street art around the city.  I was also able to squeeze some kayaking in at Lake Washington somewhere in it all!

Following our Seattle stint was a trip to the Olympic Peninsula for some less-urban-like entertainment.  I spent half a day kayaking with seals and other wildlife on the Dungeoness Spit in the Strait of Juan De Fuca...cool.  Then we went to the Olympic National Park and hiked, looked at Lake Crescent, and hung out at the Sol Duc Hot Springs for some R&R.  We stopped at Hurricane Ridge (to play in the snow) on our way back to the hotel on our final day on the peninsula.

The final 3-4 days were spent back in the Seattle area in preparation for a wedding near Mt. Rainier.  The interim time was spent back near Pike's Market walking along the waters edge where much of the hustle and bustle occurs.  Good food and great beer accompanied the trip everyday.  Click the photo to see our vacation pictures!  Kayaking photos to come later...
